A Scorecard with missing numbers is useless. If your leadership team is sitting in a Level 10 Meeting™ looking at blank spaces, you are flying blind and running the business on assumptions rather than data.

To fix this, you must treat the Scorecard as a non-negotiable operational standard. Every metric on the Scorecard must have a single owner who is accountable for reporting that number every single week.

The data must be updated before the meeting starts. There are no excuses. If a department head claims the data is not ready, that in itself is an issue that must be dropped to the Issues List and addressed immediately.

You must establish a clear rule: if a number is missing, it is considered red or off-track by default. This creates immediate accountability and prevents team members from hiding poor performance behind a blank space.

The facilitator must not allow any discussion about why the number is missing during the five-minute Scorecard review. Simply drop the missing metric to the Issues List, and during IDS®, address the root cause of the data delay. Is it a system limitation, a process bottleneck, or a people issue?

By enforcing this level of discipline, you send a clear message that tracking and execution are not optional activities in your organization.
