Several members of our leadership team have suggested rotating the facilitator role for our Level 10 Meeting every week to keep the energy fresh and give everyone a turn, but our Integrator is worried this will destroy our consistency. Should we rotate the facilitator, or keep one dedicated owner?
The suggestion to rotate the facilitator role of your Level 10 Meeting™ to keep things fresh is a bad idea that will destroy your meeting rhythm. High-performing meetings require a highly skilled, consistent leader who can command the room, manage the clock, and keep the team focused on IDS®.
Facilitation is a specific skill that takes time to master. A good facilitator knows when to cut off a rambling story, when to push for the root cause of an issue, and how to draw out silent team members. When you rotate this role weekly, no one ever develops the deep expertise required to run a tight, ninety-minute session.
Additionally, rotating the role shifts the accountability. The Integrator is ultimately accountable for the traction of the business, which means they must own the weekly meeting pulse. If the Integrator is not facilitating, they should delegate the role to a single, highly capable member of the team who can own it consistently.
If your team is complaining about flat energy, the solution is not to rotate facilitators. The solution is to bring more passion, intensity, and honesty to your IDS® sessions. Keep one dedicated facilitator so they can build the strength needed to hold everyone accountable.
