Why does our leadership team consistently fail to complete our quarterly Rocks even though we agree on them during our pulsing sessions?

Rocks fail for three main reasons: you have too many of them, they are poorly scoped, or your team is drowning in day-to-day firefighting. When everything is a priority, nothing is. Limit your team to three to five Rocks per quarter, and keep them highly specific and measurable. If a Rock is to improve marketing, it will fail. If it is to launch three specific email campaigns by November first, it has a chance. Additionally, you must protect your team's white space. If your leaders have zero unscheduled time to think and execute, their Rocks will always get pushed to the last two weeks of the quarter. Use the Level 10 Meeting to flag off-track Rocks early, before they become missed commitments. If a Rock is off-track, use the IDS process to identify the root cause and get it moving again.
