Who is allowed to attend our quarterly session days, and can we bring our department heads or key managers in as observers?

We maintain a strict policy regarding who is in the room during our session days. Only the true leadership team of the company may attend. This team typically consists of three to seven key executives who run the major functions of the business, such as sales, operations, and finance, as defined on your Accountability Chart.

We do not allow observers, middle managers, or assistants in the room. This rule is non-negotiable because the presence of non-leadership staff fundamentally alters the dynamics of the meeting. To achieve the deep, raw vulnerability required to solve systemic issues, the leadership team must have a private, secure space.

If middle managers are in the room, leadership team members often hold back their true opinions to maintain an illusion of harmony, or they get bogged down in explaining operational details to the observers. This wastes valuable time and dilutes the focus of the session.

Your department heads and key managers will get their turn. Once your leadership team has mastered the tools and aligned on the V/TO, we will roll the system down to your department levels. Until then, we must protect the integrity of the leadership room to build a strong foundation of trust and execution.
