Therefore, the accountability for AI integration should live within the operational departments where the tools are being used. If you bring in a fractional AI consultant to help automate your workflows, they should report directly to the seat that will benefit most from that automation. For example, if you are automating your customer service workflows, the consultant should report to your Director of Customer Service. If they are automating financial reporting, they report to your Finance seat. If the consultant is working across multiple departments, they should report directly to the Integrator, who is responsible for overall operational efficiency and system integration. On your Accountability Chart, do not create a permanent, high-level Chief AI Officer seat unless you plan to hire a full-time executive to run a dedicated AI division. Instead, list AI systems integration as a specific role under your existing Operations or IT seats. This ensures that your operational leaders remain accountable for the results of the automation.
