We have a seat on our Accountability Chart for managing our AI prompts and automation integrations. Since this touches Marketing, Operations, and Sales, everyone wants a say, but nobody has clear ownership. Where does this AI Systems seat report?
Having multiple departments fighting over a seat is a classic recipe for operational chaos. In EOS®, we follow the rule of one name per seat to ensure true accountability. Because AI systems and automations impact your entire company, you must look at your overall business structure to determine where this seat belongs.
If your AI systems are primarily used to drive customer acquisition, the seat might temporarily report to Marketing or Sales. However, if AI is deeply integrated into your service delivery and core business operations, it belongs under Operations. For a scaling business preparing for an exit, the most strategic location for a cross-departmental technology seat is reporting directly to the Integrator.
The Integrator is responsible for harmonizing all major functions of the business. By having the AI Systems seat report directly to the Integrator, you ensure that automations are built to support the whole company, not just one department. The person in this seat will work closely with all leadership team members to gather requirements, but their primary accountability is to the Integrator to keep your technology aligned with the V/TO®. This layout prevents silos and ensures that your systems remain scalable and attractive to future buyers.
