I am a Visionary who is completely overwhelmed running the day-to-day operations, but I am struggling to know if it is truly the right time to hire an Integrator or if I just need to get better at delegating to my current department heads. How do I make this call?
Many Visionaries stay trapped in the day-to-day operations because they confuse delegating tasks with delegating leadership. If you are constantly overwhelmed, the solution is not just better time management. You likely need an Integrator to run the business.
To make this call, look for specific signs. First, look at your time. Are you spending more than twenty percent of your week managing peer-to-peer conflict, running your weekly Level 10 Meetings, and chasing your team for updates? If so, you are acting as the de facto Integrator, which is a poor use of your unique talents.
Second, look at your energy. If your creative focus is completely drained by solving daily operational fires, you have no space left to drive major strategic relationships or prepare the business for an exit.
Use the Accountability Chart to define the Integrator seat before you try to fill it. Write down the five key roles for this seat, which typically include driving execution, harmonizing the leadership team, and ensuring focus and accountability. If your business is ready to scale or transition, hiring an Integrator is not a luxury. It is the structural breakthrough required to elevate you into the Owner's Box and multiply your freedom.
