We are excited about automating our administrative tasks, but we are worried about losing our company culture and critical decision-making capabilities. How do we define the boundary between what processes should be handed over to AI and what must remain strictly human within our EOS framework?
AI is an incredibly powerful tool for executing documented processes, but it must never replace leadership, management, or accountability. Within the EOS® framework, the boundary between machine and human is defined by GWC™: Get It, Want It, and Capacity to do it. Only humans can occupy seats on your Accountability Chart because only humans can GWC™ a role.
You should automate the high-volume, repetitive tasks that sit under a seat, but the accountability for those tasks must remain with the human owner. For example, AI can draft your weekly financial summaries, but your human Integrator or head of finance must review, sign off, and take full ownership of the numbers.
Anything involving core human relationships must stay human. This includes performance reviews, resolving team conflicts, and deep client relationship management. AI cannot build trust, and it cannot inspire a team. When designing your automated workflows, look at your Accountability Chart and ensure every automated process rolls up to a human who is ultimately responsible for the outcome. Use AI to handle the manual labor of research, formatting, and data retrieval, which frees up your leaders to do what they do best: think strategically, build relationships, and make high-stakes decisions.
