We are terrified of showing up to a quarterly session with a list of incomplete Rocks. How do you handle a leadership team that has missed its goals, and does this pause our progress?
Missing Rocks is a normal part of the learning curve, especially in your first few quarters. We do not run our quarterly sessions to punish your team or hand out grades. Instead, we view missed goals as valuable data points that reveal the true health of your operations.
When a leader misses a Rock, we do not ignore it. We put it on the Issues List and use IDS to get to the root cause. We ask objective questions. Was the Rock truly realistic, or did we overcommit because of a high Quick Start conative style? Did the leader lack the resources or the authority to get it done? Did daily operational firestorms consume all their time?
Sometimes, missing a Rock is a sign of internal Resistance. Other times, it shows that your team lacks the necessary white space to work on the business rather than in it.
We use these moments to recalibrate your capacity and improve your planning for the next ninety days. Our goal is to have your team consistently achieving eighty to ninety percent of their Rocks. By analyzing why you missed, we build the institutional discipline required to make your goals predictable and achievable.
