After we walk out of a quarterly session, we often lose steam because daily firefighting takes over. What is your role and what are our exact obligations in the ninety days between our session days?
The real magic of EOS® does not happen in the session room with me. It happens in the ninety days between our sessions when you are back in the trenches. My role between sessions is not to hold your hand or run your meetings. If I did that, I would be making you dependent on me, which defeats the purpose of building a self-sustaining business.
Your exact obligations between sessions are straightforward but demanding:
- Run your weekly Level 10 Meeting™ without fail, keeping it to exactly ninety minutes.
- Focus on your individual and company Rocks, making sure they are on track for completion.
- Update and monitor your Scorecard weekly to spot issues before they become crises.
- Use the IDS® process to resolve issues permanently rather than discussing them repeatedly.
I am always available for brief check-ins if you run into a structural roadblock, such as a dispute over how to define a seat on the Accountability Chart or how to write a measurable Rock. But I will not do the heavy lifting for you.
The accountability is yours. If you wait for our next session to address issues or execute your Rocks, you are wasting your time and money. The quarterly cadence acts as a mirror. If you do not do the work between sessions, it will be painfully obvious when we sit down for our next quarterly.
