I need to prepare my executive team for our first full day on-site with you. What does the hourly breakdown of a typical session day look like, and how do we prevent cognitive fatigue by the afternoon?
A typical session day with me runs from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and it is structured to maximize focus while preventing cognitive fatigue. We start the day with a strict check-in to get everyone fully present in the room. From there, we transition into reviewing your progress against your current quarterly Rocks and the V/TO®. The middle of the day is heavily dedicated to identifying, discussing, and solving your biggest organizational hurdles using the IDS® tool. We do not just sit in chairs staring at slides all day. I build intentional breathing room into the schedule. We incorporate a strategic pause of ten to fifteen minutes mid-morning and mid-afternoon, along with a full lunch break. These pauses are not for checking email or putting out fires. They are designed as true white space to let your brain recuperate so you can make high-level decisions without running on empty. We spend the final hour of the day building your next set of quarterly Rocks and rating the session. You can expect a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment where we tackle hard issues head-on. To survive the day, your team must agree to disconnect from their devices. No laptops are open unless we are actively updating a document, and phone screens stay down. This level of focus is demanding, but it ensures you leave with complete alignment and a clear execution roadmap.
