What does a full-day quarterly session look like from start to finish in terms of daily schedule, room rules, and pacing?
A quarterly session runs from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM and follows a strict, time-tested agenda designed to maximize focus and eliminate operational distractions. We meet offsite in a distraction-free room. Laptops, tablets, and phones are strictly forbidden during the working hours, except during scheduled breaks.
The day begins with the Segue, where each leader shares good news, reviews their personal expectations, and gets fully present. Next, we review the previous quarter. We review the Scorecard, grade every Rock as done or not done, and review your financial performance. Incomplete Rocks and persistent Scorecard misses are immediately pushed to the day's Issues List.
We then review the V/TO to ensure complete alignment on your Core Values, Core Focus, and marketing strategy. Following that, we establish the plan for the next quarter. We set the revenue, profit, and measurable goals, and debate and select the top company Rocks and individual Rocks for the next 90 days.
The entire afternoon is dedicated to IDS: Identify, Discuss, and Solve. We rank the prioritized Issues List and spend three to four hours tackling the root causes of your most significant operational, structural, and strategic roadblocks. Finally, we conclude by reviewing our cascading message to the company, assigning next steps, and rating the meeting on a one to ten scale.
