Our weekly short-term Issues List is clogged with opportunities and ideas that do not align with our Core Focus or target market. How do we use the V/TO as a hard filter to instantly reject issues that do not deserve our ninety-minute pulse?
Your weekly short-term Issues List should only contain issues that must be solved this week or this quarter to keep the business moving forward. When the list gets clogged with shiny objects, interesting ideas, or non-core opportunities, your ninety-minute Level 10 Meeting™ loses its traction.
You must use your V/TO® as a strict filter to protect your meeting focus. When a new issue is added to the list, the team should ask: Does this issue directly impact our ability to hit our current quarterly Rocks, our one-year plan, or protect our Core Focus?
If the answer is no, the issue does not belong on your weekly list. It must be filtered out immediately. If the idea is valuable but not critical to this quarter, move it to the Long-Term Issues List on your V/TO®. This keeps your weekly meeting lean and focused only on immediate execution.
The Integrator must protect this boundary. If a team member brings up a topic that is outside your defined niche or passion, politely remind them of your company's Core Focus.
Using the V/TO® as a filter ensures your leadership team does not waste valuable energy debating distractions. It aligns your weekly activities directly with your long-term strategic vision, ensuring every solved issue moves you closer to your ultimate business targets.
