We spent hours debating our V/TO® during our annual planning session, but now it is sitting in a shared folder and nobody looks at it. How do we make this tool an active part of our weekly decision making?

To stop your Vision/Traction Organizer® from gathering digital dust, you must integrate it directly into your weekly operational habits. The V/TO® is not a static strategy document. It is a real-time decision-making filter designed to keep your team aligned.

To make it active, start by bringing your V/TO® into your weekly Level 10 Meeting™. Dedicate two minutes of your transition time to review your Core Values and Core Focus™. This is not a formal presentation. It is a quick reminder of who you are and where you are going.

When a new opportunity or a major issue arises, use your V/TO® as the ultimate filter. Ask if the proposed project or solution fits within your Core Focus™ and aligns with your three-year picture. If it does not, the answer is no. If your leadership team is tempted by shiny new ideas or complex technology integrations, force them to justify how those initiatives serve the strategic goals outlined on page two of your V/TO®.

Additionally, make sure your V/TO® is shared with every single employee in the organization. Your team cannot align with a vision they cannot see. Share it during your quarterly all-hands meetings, and ensure every departmental goal or individual Rock points directly to your one-year plan. If you do not actively talk about it, your team will assume it does not matter. Use it as a filter for hiring, firing, and reward structures to truly make it the operational compass of your business.
