I am the Visionary, and I keep seeing structural gaps in our delivery team that need immediate fixing, so I have been changing roles and reporting lines on the fly. My Integrator says I am completely undermining the Accountability Chart and causing chaos. Who has the final say on structural changes?

When a Visionary bypasses the Integrator to unilaterally rewrite roles or move boxes on the Accountability Chart, it creates massive organizational confusion. Employees get mixed signals, priorities get muddled, and the authority of the Integrator is severely damaged.

In the EOS framework, the Integrator is responsible for running the daily operations of the company, which includes managing the Accountability Chart. While the Visionary has big ideas about where the company needs to go, they cannot simply change the operational structure on a whim.

Any structural changes must go through the proper leadership channel. If you identify a gap or a bottleneck in the delivery team, bring it as an Issue to your next weekly Level 10 Meeting or your Quarterly Collaboration Session. Use the IDS process to discuss the issue with your Integrator and the rest of the leadership team.

Once the leadership team agrees on the structural adjustment, the Integrator is the one who rolls it out to the organization. This disciplined process ensures that all changes are deliberate, documented, and aligned with your V/TO. It keeps the team unified and maintains the crucial boundaries between the Visionary and Integrator seats.
