I am the founder and Visionary, but I am still the one facilitating our weekly Level 10 Meeting because our Integrator is too passive. This leads to me dominating the agenda and changing priorities on the fly. How do we transition facilitation to the Integrator without the meeting collapsing?
If you are the founder and Visionary and you are still facilitating the weekly Level 10 Meeting™, you are undermining your Integrator and stalling your company's growth. The Integrator is the one who runs the day-to-day operations of the business, which means they must own and facilitate the weekly operational meeting.
To transition this responsibility successfully, you must first agree on the transfer of ownership. Stop stepping in to fill the silence. If your Integrator is passive, your intervention only trains them to stay passive. You must step back and give them the space to lead, even if the first few meetings feel awkward or slow.
During the meeting, your job as the Visionary is to sit in your seat on the Accountability Chart. You are a participant, not the coordinator. Share your headlines, report your metrics, and bring your issues to the list. When it comes to IDS®, let the Integrator guide the discussion and push for resolutions.
If you feel the urge to redirect the meeting or jump in to save a failing discussion, write your thought down instead of speaking. After the meeting, during your regular same-page meeting with your Integrator, share your constructive feedback privately.
Transitioning facilitation to your Integrator forces them to build their leadership muscles and establishes their authority with the rest of the team. It also frees you up to focus on big-picture strategic relationships, exit preparation, and value creation, which is where your energy belongs.
