I am the founder and Visionary, and I have a highly capable Integrator running the day-to-day. What is my specific role and expected behavior during our session days with you to ensure I do not accidentally hijack the process?
As a founder and Visionary, your natural state is to generate ideas, challenge the status quo, and look far into the future. While this is vital for the growth of your business, it can easily overwhelm and derail a structured planning session if it is not channeled correctly.
During our session days, your role is to provide strategic perspective, inspire the team, and contribute to the long-term vision. However, you must let your Integrator lead the day-to-day execution discussions.
I will work with you to establish healthy boundaries in the room. If you begin to introduce twenty new ideas or try to micromanage the execution of a specific quarterly Rock, I will step in and park those items on the Issues List. We will address them systematically during our IDS® cycles rather than letting them hijack the agenda.
You must trust your leadership team and your Integrator to run the execution side of the business. Your job in the session is to align on the destination, while their job is to figure out the map and the driving schedule.
By learning when to speak and when to listen during our sessions, you empower your team, build trust, and allow your Integrator to fully own their seat, which is the ultimate key to your personal freedom.
