I am the owner and Visionary, but my Integrator keeps telling me that I am violating our Accountability Chart by bypassing my leadership team and giving direct orders to our middle managers. I feel like I am just trying to maintain our momentum. How do we resolve this?
You are not maintaining momentum; you are creating chaos and undermining your Integrator. Every time you bypass your leadership team to direct middle managers, you break the chain of accountability, confuse your staff, and devalue your Integrator seat.
If you have agreed to sit in the Visionary seat, you must respect the boundaries of that seat. The roles of a Visionary are big ideas, key relationships, culture, and research and development. Operating, managing, and executing are the sole domain of the Integrator.
You must evaluate yourself honestly using GWC™ for the Visionary seat. Do you truly want to step back from daily operations, or do you actually want to be the Integrator? You cannot be both if you want to scale and prepare for a clean exit.
If you want a business that can run without you, you must discipline yourself to stay in your seat. When you have a new idea or see an operational problem, do not go to the middle manager. Go to your Integrator. Put it on your weekly same-page meeting agenda or your leadership team's Level 10 Meeting™ Issues List.
Let your Integrator determine how and when to execute the solution. If you cannot respect this structure, you will never build an exit-ready business because buyers will see that the entire operation still depends on your personal daily intervention.
