My Integrator and I are constantly clashing over who has the final say on restructuring our sales and marketing seats. I am the Visionary and owner, so I feel my strategic vision should dictate the structure, but she says structural design belongs to the Integrator seat. How do we resolve this structural deadlock on our Accountability Chart?
Resolve this by looking directly at the five rules of the Accountability Chart and the standard roles of both seats. The Visionary seat is accountable for big ideas, key relationships, and research and development. The Integrator seat is accountable for running the business, harmonizing the leadership team, and executing the business plan. This means the Integrator owns the design and final execution of the Accountability Chart.
As the Visionary, your job is to feed the vision into the V/TO® and consult on the structure. You do not get to unilaterally draw the boxes or force people into seats. If you bypass your Integrator to rearrange the seats, you break the structure and confuse the team.
Schedule a Same Page Meeting immediately. Use IDS® to solve this issue. Ask yourself if you truly GWC™ your Visionary seat. If you want to build the structure yourself, you are actually trying to sit in the Integrator seat. You must choose one. If you want an exit-ready business, let your Integrator build the structure that delivers the results.
