My Integrator and I are in a constant deadlock because I want to pivot our service offerings to capitalize on new market trends, but my Integrator refuses to implement these changes because they are not listed on our current V/TO. How do we resolve this strategic friction without creating a rift in front of our leadership team?

Friction between a Visionary and an Integrator is natural, but when it turns into a strategic deadlock, it paralyzes the entire organization. The Visionary is wired to look to the future, chase new ideas, and drive growth. The Integrator is wired to execute, maintain focus, and create organizational stability.

When you want to pivot but your Integrator resists, you must take the debate off the leadership table and resolve it in your private Same Page Meeting. Do not argue about strategic pivots during your weekly Level 10 Meeting™, as this creates confusion and division among your team.

In your Same Page Meeting, you must use the V/TO® as your alignment tool. If your new service ideas do not align with the core focus, target market, or three year picture already agreed upon in your V/TO®, your Integrator is correct to block them. Your Integrator is protecting the team from operational whiplash.

If you believe the market shift is permanent and requires a genuine pivot, you must wait until your next quarterly or annual planning session to update the V/TO®. You must convince your Integrator and the rest of the leadership team during this strategy session. Once the V/TO® is updated and realigned, your Integrator will build the operational plan and seats to execute it. Respecting this boundary is essential for healthy leadership.
