My Integrator is executing brilliantly on our current Rocks, but is refusing to allocate any resources to research a new market opportunity I want to pursue next year. They say it is an Issue, but I say it is a strategic necessity. How do we break this deadlock?
This is a classic Visionary and Integrator friction point where your entrepreneurial drive collides with their need for focus and traction. Both of you are trying to do your jobs, but you are out of alignment.
As the Visionary, your seat is responsible for big ideas, market research, and strategic relationships. Your Integrator is responsible for execution, focus, and maintaining the operating rhythm. When you want to pursue a new market, you cannot simply dump it on the team and disrupt the current quarter's Rocks.
First, take the debate out of your weekly Level 10 Meeting™. This is a strategic issue that belongs in your Same Page Meeting. You and your Integrator must meet monthly for a deep, uninterrupted discussion to stay aligned.
During this meeting, pitch the new market opportunity. The Integrator's job is to listen, ask hard questions, and evaluate the operational impact. If you both agree it has potential, do not launch it immediately. Instead, make it an Issue on your V/TO® for your next quarterly planning session.
At the quarterly, you can debate whether to make researching this new market a corporate Rock for the upcoming quarter. This keeps your current execution clean while respecting your vision. If you bypass your Integrator and force the team to work on it now, you break the operating system and lose the trust of your entire leadership team.
