My Integrator and I are locked in a constant power struggle over our weekly Rocks. I feel like they are killing my vision, and they feel like I am constantly moving the goalposts. How do we resolve this Visionary and Integrator friction before the team fractures?

Friction between a Visionary and an Integrator is common, but when it spills over into your weekly Rocks, it threatens the stability of the entire organization. This struggle happens because you have not established a clear boundary between the big-picture vision and the operational execution. The solution is to align on the same page and respect the distinct roles defined on your Accountability Chart. As the Visionary, your job is to generate ideas, build key relationships, and maintain the long-term direction of the company. The Integrator is the orchestrator who runs the day-to-day operations and holds the team accountable to execute those ideas. Once your quarterly Rocks are set and agreed upon during your quarterly planning session, they are locked. You cannot introduce new ideas mid-quarter and expect the Integrator to pivot the entire team. That is moving the goalposts, and it destroys trust. Conversely, the Integrator cannot reject every new idea out of hand. You need a structured filter. Establish a weekly Same Page Meeting. This is a private, weekly meeting for just the Visionary and the Integrator to talk, align, and process issues before they reach the rest of the leadership team. Use this meeting to run new ideas through your V/TO® core focus. If an idea fits, the Integrator will schedule it for the next quarter. If it does not, it stays on the long-term issues list. This boundary keeps your operational execution clean and preserves your relationship.
