As the Visionary, I come up with brilliant growth ideas every week, but my Integrator tells me that my constant changes of direction are giving the team whiplash and stalling our current Rocks. How do we structurally resolve this friction on our Accountability Chart?
This is the classic Visionary and Integrator friction point. Your job as a Visionary is to generate ideas, but your Integrator's job is to protect the focus and execution of the company. When you dump your weekly ideas directly onto the leadership team, you bypass the Integrator and create organizational chaos. To resolve this, you must establish a strict structural boundary on your Accountability Chart. All of your ideas must go through the Integrator first, never directly to the department heads. Create a formal process called the Same Page Meeting. This is a recurring, private meeting between just you and your Integrator. During this meeting, you present your new ideas. Your Integrator will act as the filter. Together, you will run them through the filter of your V/TO to see if they align with your ten-year target and three-year picture. If they do, the Integrator will slate them for the Issues list or save them for the next quarterly planning session to potentially become future Rocks. If they do not fit, they go into your long-term storage or get killed. This structure allows you to express your creative genius without derailing the daily operations. You must trust your Integrator to hold the line on focus so you can focus on big-picture value.
