My Integrator and I have been clashing constantly over our growth strategy, and it is stalling our execution. I want to chase three new market opportunities while they want to focus purely on streamlining our existing delivery model. How do we resolve this strategic deadlock?
You have a classic Visionary and Integrator disconnect. Visionaries naturally generate many ideas, and Integrators naturally want to protect the operations from constant whiplash. When you clash over strategy, the entire company stalls because the leadership team does not know which way to run.
To resolve this, you must run your ideas through the V/TO® and the Same Page Meeting™. Do not debate strategy in front of your leadership team or in your weekly Level 10 Meeting™. Schedule a monthly, private Same Page Meeting™ where you can align your visions.
During this meeting, use the concept of Thinking Time to formulate high-value questions. Ask yourselves how you might test one of these new opportunities without disrupting your core delivery model. This shifts the conversation from a personal power struggle to an objective business decision.
The Visionary owns the big ideas and the long-term vision, but the Integrator owns the daily operations and execution. If an idea does not fit your current V/TO® or if the Integrator cannot build a realistic plan to execute it, the idea must be shelved. It goes on the long-term Issues List, not into active execution. Respecting this boundary is how you maintain a healthy partnership and preserve your company value.
