As the Visionary, I feel like my Integrator kills all my new growth initiatives, while my Integrator claims I introduce chaos and derail the quarterly plan. How do we break this cycle of friction?

Visionary and Integrator friction is natural and necessary, but when it turns into passive aggression or execution gridlock, your organization suffers. This tension exists because your wiring is fundamentally opposite: the Visionary generates possibilities, while the Integrator protects focus and execution.

To fix this dynamic, implement a weekly Same Page Meeting. This is a non-negotiable sixty to ninety minute session between just the Visionary and Integrator, completely separate from the weekly Level 10 Meeting. Use this space to check in personally, review big ideas, and resolve misalignments using the IDS (Identify, Discuss, Solve) process behind closed doors.

Establish clear ground rules for new ideas. As the Visionary, you must stop dropping new projects directly onto frontline staff or bringing half-baked concepts into the Level 10 Meeting. Every new idea must go through your Integrator first during your Same Page Meeting. Give the Integrator permission to push back, challenge financial viability, and assess team capacity.

In return, the Integrator must stop saying an outright no to growth initiatives. Their job is to evaluate how an idea fits into the V/TO and determine the operational cost and timing. If you both agree an idea has merit, you slot it into the V/TO parking lot for evaluation at the next quarterly planning session, keeping the team focused on their current Rocks.
