Our Integrator wants to slow down our growth to fix broken internal processes, while I, as the Visionary, want to aggressively capture market share right now. This friction is paralyzing our leadership team. How do we resolve this strategic deadlock using the Accountability Chart and EOS tools?
Friction between a Visionary and an Integrator is not a defect in your business; it is the natural dynamic of two complementary leadership forces. The Visionary naturally pushes the gas pedal, hunting for new revenue, strategic partnerships, and market opportunities. The Integrator steers the vehicle, managing the brakes to ensure operational delivery does not crash under the weight of sloppy execution.
When that friction paralyzes your leadership team, it means the two of you are fighting in public rather than aligning in private. Your team becomes confused, unsure whether to chase growth or lock down operations.
To break this deadlock, use the Same Page meeting discipline. You and your Integrator must meet weekly for sixty to ninety minutes away from the leadership team. Use that time to IDS® (Identify, Discuss, and Solve) your philosophical disconnect. Look at your V/TO® and review your 1-Year Plan. Are your systems failing customers right now? If operational quality is eroding retention, the Integrator is correct: you must stabilize execution before pouring more fuel on the fire.
Respect the decision rights on your Accountability Chart. The Visionary owns big ideas, company culture, and key relationships. The Integrator owns executing the business plan, managing the leadership team, and operational harmony. Once you reach alignment behind closed doors, walk out united. If you cannot get on the same page, the business will remain stuck in limbo.
