Our Visionary and Integrator are constantly clashing over execution speed versus strategic pivots. How do we resolve this chronic friction before it destroys our leadership team dynamics?

Visionary and Integrator friction is natural but dangerous if left unmanaged. It usually happens because you lack clear boundaries and a shared forum to align.

First, schedule a recurring, dedicated same page meeting. This is a private space outside your weekly Level 10 Meeting to air differences, hash out conflicts, and align on direction. You must enter this room with vulnerability, setting aside self-absorption to focus purely on what is best for the organization.

Second, look at your Accountability Chart. The Visionary seat is big-picture strategy, culture, and big relationships. The Integrator seat is execution, focus, and running the day-to-day. If the Visionary is trying to execute, or the Integrator is trying to pivot the business every Tuesday, you have a boundary violation.

Third, use Keith Cunningham's Thinking Time framework. Ask yourselves: How might we define our operational speed limits so that the Integrator can execute without the Visionary feeling stifled?

If you cannot resolve the friction, run a conative assessment. A high Quick Start Visionary will always want to jump to the next thing, while a high Follow Thru Integrator needs systems. Recognizing these innate instincts allows you to respect each other's strengths instead of treating them as personal attacks. Commit to the relationship and make the hard calls.
