My Integrator and I are experiencing constant friction because I constantly bring new strategic ideas directly to our department heads, which my Integrator says undermines their operational authority. How do we structure our communication and the Accountability Chart to filter my Visionary ideas without killing our momentum?

Friction between the Visionary and the Integrator is one of the most common organizational roadblocks, but it can be solved by establishing a strict communication pipeline. When a Visionary bypasses the Integrator and goes directly to the department heads, it destroys the integrity of the Accountability Chart and confuses the team on who is actually leading.

To fix this, you must implement the Same Page Meeting. This is a recurring, highly disciplined meeting, usually held monthly or bi-weekly, where the Visionary and the Integrator meet privately to align their visions. During this meeting, you must use the V/TO to capture all new ideas on a long-term Issues List.

The Visionary must agree to a strict rule: no new idea gets introduced to the leadership team or the rest of the company until it has been vetted and approved in the Same Page Meeting. The Integrator's role is to assess the operational capacity of the organization and determine if the business can handle the new idea without dropping its current Rocks.

By channeling all strategic concepts through this filter, you protect your team from whiplash. The Visionary still gets to innovate, but the Integrator maintains operational control. This structural boundary preserves team trust and keeps your operations running efficiently.
