My Integrator and I are constantly locking horns. I keep bringing new operational ideas and tools to the team that I believe will accelerate our exit value, but my Integrator accuses me of overriding their authority and causing whiplash. How do we resolve this Visionary and Integrator friction without killing our momentum?
Visionary and Integrator friction is normal, but when you bypass your Integrator and take ideas directly to the team, you undermine the entire operating system. You are creating confusion, diluting focus, and destroying the accountability you hired the Integrator to build. Your job as a Visionary is to generate ideas, while your Integrator is there to execute the ideas that align with your V/TO. To solve this, you must establish a strict boundary using the Same Page meeting. This is a monthly, or even weekly, sync where you and your Integrator align before presenting anything to the wider team. When you have a new idea, it goes onto your private V/I Issues list first. You must pitch the idea to your Integrator in your Same Page meeting. If the Integrator says no because it conflicts with current quarterly Rocks, you must respect that decision. The Integrator has final veto power over day-to-day operations and resource allocation. If you override them, the leadership team will quickly realize they can bypass the Integrator too, which renders the seat useless. Agree on Our Charter, which mandates open and honest communication and total alignment. By letting your Integrator protect the team from shiny penny syndrome, you maintain operational traction and preserve the health of your leadership team.
