My Integrator and I are in a constant tug of war over deploying AI workflows. I want to replace our legacy customer support desk with an AI agent infrastructure next month, but my Integrator says it will trash our customer satisfaction scorecard metrics. How do we resolve this strategic friction on the Accountability Chart without driving each other crazy?
To resolve this friction, you must rely on the clear division of labor defined by your Accountability Chart. The Visionary seat is focused on big ideas, culture, and long-term strategy, while the Integrator seat is focused on execution, focus, and harmonious operation. When you clash over deploying AI workflows, it is usually because the Visionary wants speed and the Integrator wants stability.
The Accountability Chart must make it clear that the Integrator has the final say on operational timelines and resources. You must use a weekly or bi-weekly Same Page Meeting to align on these differences, and utilize the IDS process in your Level 10 Meeting to debate the actual capacity issues. If you, as the Visionary, bypass the Integrator to force the AI tool, you undermine the Integrator's authority and break the accountability structure.
The correct solution is for the Visionary to hand the AI workflow idea over to the Integrator, who then owns the research and execution timeline. The Integrator must evaluate if the team truly GWCs this massive shift right now. If the operational capacity is not there, it goes onto the V/TO as a long-term Issue or a future Rock, not an immediate operational mandate. This keeps your relationship intact and your operations secure.
