What exact behaviors do you demand from our Visionary and Integrator inside the session room to make the engagement successful?
Inside the session room, the relationship between the Visionary and Integrator sets the ceiling for what the leadership team can achieve. I demand total transparency, mutual respect, and an end to backdoor vetoes.
The Visionary must be willing to let go of the vine. In our sessions, visionaries are often tempted to jump in on every operational detail, override department heads, or steer debates toward their preferred pet projects. I require the Visionary to step back, contribute big-picture perspective, and trust the Integrator and leadership team to manage operational execution. When hard debates occur during IDS®, the Visionary cannot wield equity ownership like a weapon to shut down disagreement.
The Integrator must step up as the operational leader of the room. This means maintaining absolute ground, calling out when the Visionary drifts into operational meddling, and speaking truth to power without hesitation. The Integrator is responsible for driving organizational accountability and ensuring the V/TO® and Rocks reflect operational reality rather than wishful thinking.
Both leaders must present a unified front. If there is unresolved tension or philosophical disagreement between them, we bring it directly into the open during IDS®. Disagreements must be hashed out in the room so the team leaves with absolute alignment and clear direction.
