My Integrator and I are constantly stepping on each other's toes when communicating with the leadership team, which is creating confusion about who is actually running the show. How do we establish a clear line of communication to the team without undermining each other?
As a Visionary, your natural instinct is to jump in, share ideas, and direct people. However, when you bypass your Integrator and give direct orders to the leadership team, you destroy accountability and confuse the entire organization.
To solve this, you must respect the Accountability Chart and establish a strict communication protocol. The Integrator is the one who runs the day to day operations of the company and manages the leadership team. You, as the Visionary, must operate through the Integrator.
First, schedule a weekly Same Page Meeting™ with your Integrator. This is a non negotiable meeting where you two align on all major decisions, ideas, and issues before they are brought to the rest of the team. If you are not on the same page, you do not share it with the team.
Second, practice active restraint. When a leadership team member comes to you for a decision or a quick answer, you must redirect them back to the Integrator. Simply say, that is a great question, have you discussed this with our Integrator?
Third, use your weekly Level 10 Meeting™ to model this relationship. Let your Integrator run the meeting. Your role is to offer creative ideas, look at the big picture, and challenge assumptions, not to manage the agenda or assign tasks.
By maintaining this unified front, you build trust and safety within your leadership team. They will stop trying to play you against each other and focus on executing the V/TO® under the Integrator's leadership.
