As the Visionary, I often see operational bottlenecks and go straight to our department heads to implement quick software fixes or process changes. My Integrator says I am undermining their authority and tearing up our Accountability Chart. I feel like waiting for the Integrator slows us down when we need to be agile. How do we stop this friction without killing our execution speed?
This is a classic point of friction that destroys operational discipline. As a Visionary, your natural instinct is to move fast, break things, and implement solutions immediately. However, bypassing your Integrator to direct department heads violates the core principle of the Accountability Chart. It creates confusion, dilutes the Integrator's authority, and causes your team to drop their priorities to chase your latest idea.
You must adopt a strict communication rule: you can talk to anyone in the organization to gather information or share ideas, but you cannot give direction. Direction must go through the Integrator.
If you see an operational bottleneck, document it and bring it to your weekly same-page meeting with your Integrator. Use this dedicated space to align on the issue. If you both agree it is a priority, let the Integrator flow the solution down through the proper seats on the Accountability Chart.
This maintains the integrity of your structure and keeps your team focused on their existing Rocks. It protects the organization from the whiplash of constant, uncoordinated changes while ensuring that valuable automated solutions are implemented systematically rather than chaotically.
