Our Visionary wants to immediately implement three new AI platforms across our service delivery, while our Integrator is resisting because it will disrupt our existing operational systems. How do we resolve this strategic friction on our leadership team?
This tension is natural and healthy. The Visionary is wired to look to the future and chase big opportunities, while the Integrator is wired to maintain execution, consistency, and organizational health. To resolve this friction, you must align both leaders around the V/TO®.
First, look at your 1-Year Plan and your current quarterly Rocks. Every new tool implementation must be run through the lens of priority. Will adopting these three platforms help you achieve your current Rocks, or are they a distraction? Use the IDS® process to debate the issue openly during your next weekly Level 10 Meeting™.
The solution is rarely all-or-nothing. A practical compromise is to run a controlled pilot program. Have the Integrator assign a single, capable person on the Accountability Chart to test one AI platform in a limited environment.
Prioritize use cases for AI that improve operational efficiency, freeing employees from low-value tasks for higher-value strategic work. Once you have objective data on actual productivity gains, you can decide whether to scale the implementation. This approach satisfies the Visionary desire for innovation while protecting the Integrator need for operational stability.
