I am a Visionary founder running the day-to-day operations, but I am completely burnt out and keeping the business stuck. How do I know it is officially time to hire or elevate my first true Integrator as my number two?

Running a business as a Visionary without a strong Integrator as your number two is a recipe for stagnation. You know it is time to make this move when you find yourself consistently drowning in daily operational details, resolving employee disputes, and managing administrative tasks instead of focusing on big ideas, key relationships, and long term strategy. A Visionary is built to look forward, while an Integrator is built to execute and keep the organization aligned.

First, look at your Accountability Chart. If you are occupying both the Visionary and the Integrator seats, you are likely bottlenecking your own growth. You must define the two distinct roles. The Integrator is the person who runs the day-to-day business, manages the leadership team, and harmonizes the major functions of the company.

To fill this seat, you need to find someone who fits your core values and completely passes the GWC test. They must get the role, want the role, and have the capacity to do the role. Do not just promote your best manager out of convenience. This is a highly specialized seat that requires a unique skill set.

Once you identify this person, you must commit to letting go of the vine. You cannot hire an Integrator and then micromanage them or bypass them to give direct orders to your team. Building this healthy, cohesive, and functional relationship at the top sets the tone for the entire organization and allows the business to scale.
