Our Visionary gets incredibly bored during the tactical reporting sections of our weekly Level 10 Meeting and often tries to hijack the agenda to discuss long-term strategy and big ideas. How do we keep our Visionary engaged without letting them derail our weekly operational execution?

Visionaries naturally live in the future, focused on big ideas, strategic growth, and long-term opportunities. They are biologically wired to detest the granular, tactical details of weekly operations. However, for a business to scale and eventually prepare for a clean exit, the weekly execution pulse must remain highly disciplined and tactical.

To keep your Visionary engaged without allowing them to derail the meeting, you must strictly compartmentalize your discussions. The Level 10 Meeting™ is designed for short-term operational execution, not for long-term strategic brainstorming.

When your Visionary brings up a massive, strategic idea during the weekly meeting, the Integrator must immediately park it. Do not dive into a strategic debate. Instead, write the idea down on the Long-Term Issues List on your V/TO®.

This reassures the Visionary that their idea has been captured and will not be forgotten. These long-term issues are then addressed during your quarterly planning sessions or dedicated same page meetings between the Visionary and Integrator.

Remind your Visionary that their presence is critical for providing high-level context during IDS®, but the weekly meeting must remain a tactical, operational engine. By respecting the structure, they allow the leadership team to build the traction needed to execute their big vision.
