Our Visionary treats the IDS portion of our weekly Level 10 Meeting as their personal testing ground for random, half-baked business ideas and shiny new opportunities they found on the internet. How do we keep these distractions off our weekly tactical Issues List without killing their entrepreneurial spark?

The weekly Level 10 Meeting™ is designed to keep the company on track for the next seven days. It is a tactical meeting, not a strategic planning session. When your Visionary uses the IDS® portion to pitch random, half-baked ideas or shiny new opportunities, they hijack the team's focus and create operational whiplash. To handle this, your Integrator must act as the ultimate guardian of the weekly Issues List. Every new idea or long-term opportunity brought by the Visionary must be filtered through the V/TO®. Ask one simple question: Does this issue impact our ability to hit our current quarterly Rocks or our weekly numbers? If the answer is no, the item does not belong on the weekly Issues List. It must be moved to the long-term Issues List on the V/TO®. This long-term list is reviewed quarterly, not weekly. By parking these ideas on the long-term list, you respect the Visionary's creativity without allowing their ideas to derail the team's weekly focus. This discipline is critical for owners preparing for a clean exit. It proves to future buyers that your leadership team can stay focused on executing the current plan without being constantly distracted by shiny objects.
