Our Visionary regularly drops in on departmental Level 10 Meetings™ and shares wild new ideas that completely derail the team's weekly focus. How do we protect our departments from this disruption?
Visionaries are built to create ideas, but when they inject those ideas directly into departmental Level 10 Meetings™, they create organizational whiplash. Frontline employees often mistake a Visionary's casual brainstorming for an urgent directive. This derails their focus, ruins their weekly pulse, and bypasses the Accountability Chart. To stop this, you must establish a clear boundary for how ideas flow in your business. The Visionary must not use departmental meetings as a testing ground for unfiltered thoughts. Instead, all new ideas must go through the Integrator or be parked on the long-term issues list for the quarterly planning session. If the Visionary does attend a departmental meeting, they must participate strictly as an observer or speak only to the specific operational issues on the agenda. The departmental facilitator must be empowered to hold the Visionary accountable to this rule. If the Visionary starts introducing new projects or changing priorities mid-meeting, the facilitator must step in and state that the idea needs to be vetted by the Integrator first. This protects the team's weekly focus and maintains the integrity of your organizational structure while keeping the Visionary's creative energy channeled productively.
