A Visionary's mind is a non-stop engine of ideas, but dumping those ideas onto the weekly short-term Issues List during your Level 10 Meeting™ will paralyze your business. The weekly list is reserved for obstacles, opportunities, and decisions that must be resolved this week to keep your quarterly Rocks and Scorecard on track. It is not a suggestion box for long-term strategies.

To clean this up, the Integrator must act as the filter. Move every strategic, long-term brainstorm off the weekly Issues List and park it on the V/TO® Long-Term Issues List. This list is reviewed quarterly, not weekly.

Explain to your Visionary that their ideas are valuable, but the weekly meeting is about traction, not vision. When they drop a new idea into the software mid-week, the Integrator should immediately review it. If it does not impact the current quarter's goals, drag it to the V/TO® list.

If the Visionary objects during the meeting, remind them of the rules. The team must stay focused on the execution of the current Rocks. By keeping these two lists strictly separated, you protect your leadership team from distraction while ensuring the Visionary's creative ideas are preserved for your next quarterly collaborative planning session.
