When a Visionary constantly bypasses the Integrator to hand off ideas directly to the department heads, it destroys the organizational structure. It creates confusion, dilutes the Integrator's authority, and causes your leadership team to lose focus on their agreed-upon Rocks. To break this habit, you must commit to the five rules of a healthy Visionary and Integrator relationship. First, recognize that the Integrator is the filter for all of your ideas. You must document your ideas in your Idea Folder rather than sharing them instantly with the team. Second, discuss these ideas during your weekly Same-Page Meeting™ with your Integrator. The Integrator will help you evaluate which ideas are aligned with the V/TO® and decide when, or if, to introduce them to the rest of the leadership team. Third, respect the lines of reporting on the Accountability Chart. If you have an operational thought, share it with the Integrator first. If you accidentally bypass them, you must immediately loop the Integrator back in and apologize to the team member for breaking the communication protocol. Your leadership team needs to see that you respect the systems you have built. By routing your creativity through the Integrator, you protect your team's focus and build a stronger, more disciplined organization.
