I am the Visionary, and my Integrator is doing a great job running daily operations, but I keep finding myself giving direct instructions to our marketing and sales managers because I have new ideas that need to happen fast. My Integrator says I am undermining her authority and confusing the team. How do we fix this without killing my entrepreneurial drive?

You are violating the Accountability Chart, and it is killing your company's efficiency. When you bypass your Integrator and go straight to their direct reports, you create massive confusion, dilute accountability, and completely undermine your Integrator's authority. The team is left trying to serve two masters, which always leads to execution paralysis.

To fix this, you must respect the structural lines of your Accountability Chart. As the Visionary, your only direct report is the Integrator. You do not have direct authority over the sales or marketing managers, even if you founded the company.

When you have a brilliant new idea, you must bring it to your Integrator during your weekly same-page meeting. Pitch the idea to them, explain the strategic value, and let them decide how, when, or even if to implement it. Once you hand the idea over, your job is to step back.

The Integrator is responsible for filtering your ideas, prioritizing them against your current Rocks, and directing the team on execution. If the Integrator decides an idea has to wait, you must accept that decision.

This discipline protects your relationship and keeps the team focused. It allows you to focus on big-picture strategy and high-level relationships, while your Integrator ensures the business actually executes the plan.
