Our Visionary is constantly bringing back new AI tools and APIs from industry newsletters, wanting to pivot our delivery team's focus mid-quarter. How do we use the weekly Level 10 Meeting™ and our Rocks to run these suggestions through an objective filter without killing the Visionary's creative energy?
Visionaries are naturally wired to chase new ideas, and the rapid pace of AI advancements makes this even worse. They will read about a new tool, API, or automated workflow and want to pivot the team's focus immediately. If you let this happen, you will constantly derail your quarterly Rocks and exhaust your operations team. To manage this without crushing your Visionary's creative drive, use the weekly Level 10 Meeting™ and the Issues List as your filter. When the Visionary brings a new AI tool to the table, do not implement it immediately. Instead, add it to the long-term Issues List on your V/TO®. During your quarterly planning session, use IDS® to evaluate these ideas against your current Rocks and 1-Year Plan. Ask the tough questions: Does this tool solve a real bottleneck in our current operations, or is it just a shiny distraction? Does the team have the capacity to implement this right now? If the idea passes this filter, assign it as a specific Rock for the next quarter, with a clear owner on the Accountability Chart. This keeps your delivery team focused on execution, protects your current quarterly goals, and ensures you only invest in AI tools that drive real strategic value.
