I am the Visionary, and I keep finding new AI tools that I want to test. To do this, I have been adding experimental research seats to our Accountability Chart and assigning them to our marketing team without my Integrator's approval. How do we stop this friction?
You are violating the core dynamic of the Visionary and Integrator relationship. As the Visionary, your job is to generate big ideas and explore new horizons. However, you do not have the authority to unilaterally alter the Accountability Chart or deploy resources on a whim. Doing so bypasses your Integrator, confuses your team, and destroys operational focus.
Every new idea or tool you want to test must go through your Integrator. The proper channel for this is your weekly same-page meeting or your leadership team's Issues list. If you want to create an experimental AI seat, you must raise it as an issue, discuss it, and solve it together with your Integrator.
Your Integrator's job is to protect the company's focus, manage resources, and ensure execution. If the Integrator determines that adding an experimental seat will distract the team from achieving their current quarterly Rocks, you must respect that decision.
To channel your creative energy constructively, establish a clear sandbox process. Agree on a small, defined budget and a set number of hours that can be spent on research and development, but keep these activities completely separate from your core Accountability Chart until they are proven and ready to be integrated into your official business structure.
