It is easy to get distracted by shiny new tools, but operational excellence comes from focus, not theater. To protect your team's energy, you must filter every AI opportunity through your V/TO®.

When someone proposes a new AI initiative, do not discuss the technology. Instead, look at your three-year picture and your one-year plan on the V/TO®. Ask this simple question: does this project directly solve a bottleneck that is stopping us from hitting our targets?

If the answer is no, drop it. It goes straight to your long-term Issues List for future consideration.

If the answer is yes, push it through the IDS® process during your next quarterly session. Frame the proposal not as an AI project, but as an 'operations-improvement project that uses technology'.

Define the exact operational metric the project will improve. If you cannot tie the proposed tool to a specific Scorecard number or a measurable cost reduction, do not greenlight it.

By using your V/TO® as a filter, you ensure your leadership team stays aligned on your core objectives. You will only spend resources on technology that drives real efficiency and builds long-term enterprise value.
