Using technology to streamline your weekly meetings is smart, but you must be careful not to automate the human accountability out of the system. The value of the Level 10 Meeting™ is not the data itself. It is the raw, honest human interaction and conflict that happens when discussing that data.

You can successfully automate the collection and compilation of your weekly Scorecard metrics. There is no reason your team should spend hours manually copying numbers from various software systems into a spreadsheet. Use automated reporting tools to populate your Scorecard before the meeting begins. This ensures your data is accurate, real-time, and ready for review.

However, once the meeting starts, the automation must stop. A human being must still own each number on the Scorecard. If a metric is off track, the owner of that seat must say the words off track out loud. Do not let an automated system or software dashboard flag the issue for them. That physical act of verbal ownership is where accountability lives.

Similarly, do not use technology to pre-solve your issues or generate generic solutions during the IDS® portion of your meeting. The identifying, discussing, and solving of issues must remain a collaborative, human exercise. Use your tools to expose the operational gaps, but rely on your leadership team to resolve them. This maintains the strict discipline of the operating system while leveraging automation to save valuable administrative time.
