Our leadership team wants to use AI to analyze our overall quarterly performance before our next Quarterly Planning Session. How do we use AI to identify blind spots in our business without turning our strategic planning into an academic research project?
Strategic planning requires clear focus, not endless data analysis. To use AI effectively before your next Quarterly Planning Session, keep the scope tight and focused on your actual numbers. Export your last twelve weeks of scorecard metrics, your quarterly Rock progress, and your current Issues List into a secure, private AI environment. Do not include sensitive customer or employee names. Ask the AI to identify patterns that are easy to miss, such as a lagging metric in sales that consistently precedes a drop in customer satisfaction three weeks later. You can also ask the AI to categorize your Issues List to see if the majority of your bottlenecks are stemming from people, processes, or technology. This analysis should take minutes, not days. The output must be formatted as a brief list of discussion points for your leadership team. Do not let the AI write your strategic plan or dictate your direction. Use its findings as objective input for your IDS session. This keeps your planning focused on real world issues and ensures your team spends its energy solving problems rather than trying to find them in spreadsheets.
