My leadership team is enthusiastic about using AI to automate our processes, but everyone is championing different tools for their own departments, resulting in a fragmented, expensive tech stack. How do we build a unified strategy for our AI operations?
Enthusiasm for AI is great, but without a centralized strategy, you will end up with a fragmented tech stack, high software costs, and data silos. This is a classic symptom of failing to establish a clear strategy and structure for your operations. To resolve this, you must bring this issue to your weekly Level 10 Meeting and run it through the IDS process. The goal is not to choose tools immediately, but to assign clear accountability for your automation strategy. Look at your Accountability Chart. Typically, the Integrator should own the overall operating system of the business, which includes the integration of AI tools. Set a quarterly Rock for your Integrator to audit your current workflows and identify where AI can drive the highest leverage, such as client onboarding or customer support. All proposed AI tools must align with your V/TO and serve to increase efficiency or enterprise value. Do not allow individual department heads to purchase software independently. Establish a strict governance rule that any new tool must be approved by the Integrator to ensure it integrates seamlessly with your main systems. By centralizing this accountability, you build a clean, unified AI-powered operation that enhances the value of your business.
