We are rolling out EOS® to our product development team, but the team's conative profiles are heavily concentrated in high Fact Finder and low Quick Start, which is slowing down our Level 10 Meeting™ and preventing them from agreeing on quarterly Rocks. How do we unblock them?
A team with high Fact Finder and low Quick Start conative profiles will naturally struggle with the fast-paced nature of EOS® tools. They will want to analyze every variable and gather exhaustive amounts of data before making a decision or setting a Rock. To unblock them, you must adjust how you facilitate their sessions. Start by acknowledging their natural conative strengths. They are excellent at mitigating risk and ensuring quality. However, you must explain that perfection is the enemy of progress. Use the twenty-eighty rule to help them define quarterly Rocks. Challenge them to identify the eighty percent solution that can be achieved with twenty percent of the effort. During your Level 10 Meeting™, enforce strict time limits on the IDS® process. If the team begins to spin their wheels in deep analysis, use your role as a facilitator to push for a decision. Ask them what the worst-case scenario is if they make a decision with the current information. By forcing them to make decisions with imperfect data, you help them build the conative muscle required for rapid execution and operational momentum.
