Our IDS sessions on the leadership team often end with a generic agreement to do better, but we lack concrete action items, and the same issues reappear next quarter. How do we ensure our solutions are permanent and actionable?

If your IDS® sessions end with vague agreements to do better, you are not actually solving issues, you are just discussing them. This leads to the same bottlenecks appearing on your issues list week after week, draining your team's energy and stalling progress.

To fix this, you must enforce a strict discipline during the Solve phase of IDS®. A real solution must result in a concrete, actionable to-do that is assigned to a single owner with a clear deadline.

The solution should never be a generic goal like improve communication. Instead, it must be an actionable step like draft a communication guideline for client onboarding by next Tuesday.

If an issue is too large to solve with a simple to-do, it may need to be elevated to a quarterly Rock or broken down into smaller components.

Always document the agreed-upon action items on your weekly To-Do List and review them at the start of your next Level 10 Meeting™. If a leader fails to complete their to-do, address it immediately. By creating a culture where every discussion ends with a clear owner and a deadline, you eliminate empty agreements and drive real accountability.
