We want to use the Step by Step Exit framework to identify the operational friction points that are currently draining our enterprise value. What is the process for translating our Business Integrity Rating results into actionable quarterly Rocks for our leadership team?
The Business Integrity Rating, or BIR, is a powerful tool to expose the hidden vulnerabilities in your business before a buyer finds them. But a rating is just data. To build actual enterprise value, you must operationalize those findings.
Start by reviewing your BIR scorecard with your leadership team during your next Quarterly Planning Session. Identify the areas with the lowest scores, whether they are in financial controls, operational dependency, or legal compliance.
Next, use the IDS® process to prioritize these vulnerabilities. Do not try to fix everything at once. Pick the top three to five issues that represent the greatest risk to a buyer.
For each priority, write a clear, measurable quarterly Rock. For example, if your BIR reveals high key person risk in your operations seat, create a Rock to document the core processes for that seat.
Assign each Rock to a specific owner on your Accountability Chart. This individual is fully responsible for driving the progress of that Rock over the next ninety days.
Track the progress of these exit ready Rocks in your weekly Level 10 Meeting™. By systematically tackling your lowest BIR scores quarter after quarter, you are building an exit ready superstructure. You are transforming your business from one that is dependent on you to one that is highly attractive, repeatable, and ready for a premium valuation.
